Swedish Massage is a common type of massage therapy that uses a combination of techniques to relax the body and relieve pain and stress. The psychological benefits of the deep relaxation Swedish massage provides are equally beneficial to the body, mind & spirit.
By far, the most popular benefit of Swedish Massage is that it is both relaxing & invigorating. It is an excellent way to help rid the body of tension and to achieve a sense of overall well-being.
During a Swedish Massage, the therapist uses their hands to apply light, gentle strokes, kneading, tapping, long gliding strokes and other rhythmic techniques to help the body improve its circulation and remove toxins from muscles. The therapist uses firm but gentle pressure, aided by oil to relax muscle tension, and to protect the skin. Bending and stretching movements may also be used to relax joints.
This type of bodywork can have many benefits, including relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, improved circulation, enhanced mental clarity, improved sleep, greater flexibility, and it can help you feel better by releasing "happy hormones" and chemicals!
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. The massage therapist uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. It is usually given in combination with Swedish Massage to relax and remove the toxins.
Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Sports Massage is a therapeutic massage that uses advanced techniques to help people participate in physical activity. It is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics or strenuous exercise. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. It can be beneficial for people who push their bodies for performance, as they focus on the areas of the body that are most used and stressed during physical activity. It is said that Sports Massage can have positive effects on psychological well-being, which can help improve performance and recovery.
It is a Full-body treatment, and the therapist may adjust the focus based on the client's needs and preferences. Conversely, a Sports Massage is often more localized, focusing on specific muscle groups that are stressed during athletic activities.
You might consider getting a Sports Massage if you're experiencing muscular aches and pains, such as stiffness, reduced sporting performance, or injuries. Athletes may also want to book regular appointments to reduce the risk of injury and maximize performance.
Neuromuscular Massage, also known as Myofascial Trigger point Therapy, or Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), is a type of massage that uses pressure and friction to treat chronic muscle and nervous system disorders. The goal is to release tension and restore normal function by applying firm pressure to trigger points in the muscles or fascia that have accumulated throughout ones life through injury, overuse in workouts or jobs that require repetitive motion, poor posture, or some other form of trauma to the body.
Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every structure in the body, including muscles, bones, organs, blood vessels, and nerve fibers. It provides support, stability & flexibility to the body.
Trigger points are areas of muscle where tissue contracts and blood and nutrients can't reach the area, preventing the muscle from relaxing and functioning normally. They can produce mild to severe pain in the body that usually shows up as a dull ache.
Neuromuscular Massage can help increase range of motion by releasing muscle tension and improving joint flexibility. It improves circulation by increasing blood flow to the muscles which can help reduce inflammation and improve overall wellness. Increased blood flow also provides muscles with oxygen and nutrients, which can help repair damaged tissues and speed up recovery. Other benefits of Neuromuscular Massage Therapy include:
- Pain relief: Can help relieve pain in muscles and joints, as well as headaches and migraines
- Stress relief: Can help reduce stress and promote relaxation
- Improved posture: Can help correct postural imbalances and improve overall posture
While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, Neuromuscular Massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane! it is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is usually given in combination of Swedish Massage to relax and remove the toxins.
